Inhibit is a painting that uses a solar sensitive paint called cyanotype, harnessing light as a medium and muse. Initially I created empty space by placing tape in ornamental shapes and crosses. I then intuitively built upon the structure of each layer, creating a symphony of texture and shape in its complex composition of several layers. The intent behind this piece was to capture the multi-dimensional quality of light as a force in the creative process, by having a playful & explorative approach to creating a painting. By varying in how light was exposed using found objects, textures and different paint applications, I blurred the boundaries between different dimensions. This is a product of 2 years of experimentation with the medium of cyanotype, shown below
