04Apple of My Eye

Sculpture

2024-01

Apple of My Eye is a sculptural piece in which I explore themes of vulnerability, love, life and sacrifice. The bust features an apple in its mouth, pierced by seven copper-welded arrows. The quality of the materials—and biblical and traditional themes—visually represent the tension of the intensity of emotion and connection, and the cyclicality that comes alongside. Inherently prompting contemplation on the vulnerability inherent in 'putting yourself out there.' along with the perceptions of strength, fragility and complexities of relationships.

A dramatic side view of a white marble bust sculpture. A red apple, pierced by several wooden arrows, is positioned in front of the sculpture's face. The dark background emphasizes the stark white of the bust and the rich red of the apple.
A hand holding a green and red apple pierced by multiple wooden arrows. The apple is held against a coral-colored background, casting interesting shadows. The arrows protrude from the apple in various directions, creating a visually striking image.
